This is a strong finance appointment inside a well-established property development group with a focus on high-end mixed-use residential projects. Strong Surfers Paradise location, established development environment, active finance function, and a business that requires accuracy, structure, and reliable financial support.
Our client is looking for an Accountant who can support day-to-day accounting operations, maintain accurate financial data, and work closely with the broader finance team across reconciliations, reporting, accounts payable, and month-end processes.
This role is built for an accounting professional who knows how to balance accuracy, deadlines, systems, communication, and financial discipline without losing sight of broader business operations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Conduct general ledger reconciliations, investigate discrepancies, and maintain accurate financial records
Perform profit and loss reconciliations and assist with financial analysis across the business
Prepare month-end tasks including fixed asset register updates, prepayments, accruals, and supporting schedules
Correctly allocate invoices against income received and ensure accurate financial coding
Process accounts payable transactions in a timely manner with appropriate supporting documentation
Prepare bank reconciliations, including trust account and credit card reconciliations
Assist with BAS preparation, financial statements, audit responses, and supporting documentation
Maintain and update financial records, ledgers, reports, and internal accounting documentation
Respond to finance-related email queries in a timely, professional, and accurate manner
Support the finance team with ad hoc accounting, administration, and reporting tasks as required
ABOUT YOU
Tertiary qualification in accounting, finance, business, or a related field
Minimum 2 years’ accounting experience in a similar accounting or finance role
Strong understanding of reconciliations, accounts payable, general ledger, month-end, and financial records
Confident using Xero for accounting, reconciliations, reporting, and day-to-day finance tasks
Strong Microsoft Excel capability with the ability to work accurately across spreadsheets and financial data
High attention to detail with a strong focus on accuracy, compliance, and clean financial records
Excellent work ethic with a proactive attitude and willingness to learn
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work collaboratively within a finance team while managing multiple priorities
Bilingual capability will be highly regarded but is not essential
